Liberty had 18 players named to the 2024 Athlon Sports Preseason Conference USA All-Conference teams, which was recently released by Athlon Sports.

The Flames tied Western Kentucky for the most selections on the magazine’s preseason all-conference team listing. Sam Houston followed with 17 selections while FIU (14) and Jacksonville State (13) headlined the next tier of teams with the most picks on the all-conference squad. t

The Flames had seven players on the first team in QB Kaidon Salter, RB Quinton Cooley, WR Treon Sibley, OL Jordan White, DL Jay Hardy, DL CJ Bazile, and S Brylan Green.

On the second-team preseason all-conference list, Liberty placed RB Billy Lucas, OL Xavior Gray, DL TJ Bush, LB Teylor Jackson, and S Quinton Reese.

WR Tyson Mobley and DL Bryce Dixon were named to the third-team while TE Bentley Hanshaw, OL John Paul Flores, P Max Morgan, and PR Brylan Green were named to the fourth team.

During its first season as a member of Conference USA, Liberty posted an unblemished 8-0 league record and a 13-0 overall mark that earned the Flames a spot in the Fiesta Bowl against No. 8 Oregon.

The Flames will open defense of its CUSA title in a rematch from the 2023 championship game against New Mexico State, the first of eight league games, on Sept. 7 against the Aggies in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The game will be televised on ESPN at 10:15 p.m. EST. Liberty’s season and home opener is the week prior on August 31 against Campbell at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
