Here’s a look at Liberty’s 2012-13 opponents that will also be in the NCAA Tournament.

Georgetown

Liberty lost to Georgetown 68-59 on November 14. The Flames actually won the 2nd half 34-27. Georgetown’s Otto Porter sat out with concussion-like symptoms. Casey Roberts led the Flames in scoring with 13 points on 3/4 shooting from 3.

The Hoyas are currently 24-5 on the season and are one of the hottest teams in all of the country as they have won 12 of their past 13 games. Georgetown will be making their 29th Tournament appearance and 7th consecutive.

The Hoyas are projected to get a #1 or #2 seed.

Iona

The Flames lost to Iona back on December 18, 87-69. Liberty was led by JC Sanders’ 16 points, and JR Coronado’s 11 points and 14 rebounds. After the loss, the Flames were 1-10 on the season.

Iona went on to finish the season 20-13 and won the MAAC Tournament on March 11th after beating Manhattan 60-57. Iona will be making their 10th Tournament appearance and 2nd consecutive.

Iona is projected to get a #15 seed.

Southern Miss?

The Golden Eagles currently sit squarely on the bubble. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has them as one of the last 8 teams out of the Tournament. Southern Miss is currently 23-8 on the season.

Liberty was beaten by Southern Miss 74-56 on November 21. John Caleb Sanders led the Flames in scoring with 15 points as the Flames fell to 0-6 on the season.

Others still alive:
UC Irvine
Still alive in the Big West Conference Tournament. Plays again Friday night at 9:30.

Liberty lost to UC Irvine 64-46 on November 19th. The Flames were led by Davon Marshall’s 12 points.

Sam Houston State
Still alive in the Southland Conference Tournament. Plays again Friday night at 8:30.

Liberty lost to Sam Houston State 64-50 on November 20th. The Flames were led by Davon Marshall’s 15 points.

Morgan State
Still alive in the MEAC Conference Tournament. Plays again Friday night at 6:00.

Liberty lost to Morgan State 67-62 on November 29th. The Flames were led by Casey Roberts’ 15 points.
