The 2021 ASUN men’s basketball tournament will be played at a single site in Jacksonville, Florida, the conference announced Friday. All nine league teams will descend upon Jacksonville in early March with the tournament played March 3-7.
The No. 8 vs No. 9 seeds will face off on Wednesday, March 3, with four quarterfinal contests will be played on Thursday, the semifinals on Friday, and the championship game on Sunday.
This marks the first time since 2013 the ASUN Tournament will be conducted with a single site format. For the past seven years, the championships have taken place at campus sites with the higher seeds serving as hosts.
Liberty won the 2020 ASUN men’s basketball tournament playing all three tournament games on their home floor of the Vines Center, defeating Lipscomb in the championship game to win a second straight conference tournament championship.
Liberty is currently in a three-way tie atop the ASUN standings with a 3-1 conference record, tied with Lipscomb and Jacksonville. The Flames are in Florida this weekend for two games against Stetson beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. in a game that will be televised on ESPN+.
In addition to the two straight conference tournament championships, the Flames have also won two straight regular season titles. Liberty, who moved from the Vines Center to the brand new Liberty Arena this season, has won 31-straight home games.
