Coastal quarterback Grayson McCall threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Troy faces South Alabama next week, and Coastal travels to Georgia Southern.
Old Dominion (2-6): Beat Louisiana Tech 23-20
ODU squeaked out a close win over LA Tech for the team’s first FBS win in three seasons. The Monarchs travel to FIU next week.
Syracuse (5-4): Beat Boston College 21-6
Syracuse running back Sean Tucker continues to keep himself on the edge of Heisman rumors. The freshman rushed for 207 yards and one touchdown as the Orange used a huge 3rd quarter to blow past Boston College.
Alabama Birmingham (5-3): Bye Week
Middle Tennessee (4-4): Beat Southern Mississippi 35-10
MTSU lost three fumbles, but Southern Miss went 5/18 on third down as Middle Tennessee cruised to an easy win.
Louisiana-Monroe (4-4): Lost at Appalachian State 59-28
Appalachian State had this game out of hand by halftime. ULM picked up two scores in the 3rd quarter but Appalachian State was never threatened.
North Texas (2-6): Beat Rice 30-24
North Texas tacked on a touchdown in overtime to beat newly-minted AAC member Rice. North Texas looks for their third win of the year next week at Southern Mississippi.
#15 Mississippi (6-2): Lost at #12 Auburn 31-20
Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral left the field with an injury that seemed to be serious, but he returned with 9:39 left in the 1st half. Auburn held on to an 11-point halftime lead to hand Ole Miss a loss before the Rebels host Liberty next week.
#24 Louisiana (7-1): Beat Texas State 45-0
Louisiana recovered from a scoreless 1st quarter to throttle Texas State. Louisiana plays Georgia State next week.
