This week’s showdown in Conway, South Carolina between No. 25 Liberty (9-1) and No. 14 Coastal Carolina (9-0) will kickoff at 2 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU.
The Chanticleers have opened as 7 point favorites as the former Big South rivals are set to renew their rivalry. Coastal improved to 9-0 and clinched a spot in the Sun Belt Championship Game with a win Saturday over Texas State and will be looking for a second straight win over the Flames. It will be the 15th meeting between the two schools with the overall series tied at 7.
Liberty improved to 9-1 on the season with a shutout victory over UMass on Black Friday, 45-0. This will be the Flames’ first meeting this season against a Top 25 foe as Liberty is looking for the program’s first ever win against a ranked FBS opponent in the first every meeting in school history between a pair of ranked opponents.
Saturday’s game is one of only two matchups this coming week featuring two ranked teams and it had Liberty and Coastal Carolina both politicking for ESPN’s College GameDay to make the trip to Conway. As of Monday morning, GameDay had not announced it’s destination for this coming Saturday.
