The Flames are winners of 3 straight, including 2 straight Big South conference games. They look to go 3-0 in conference play this afternoon against Gardner-Webb. Here’s what to look for:
1 – Stop Kahlil Lewis
In the Runnin’ Bulldogs 8 games this season, running back Kahlil Lewis has rushed for 817 yards and 12 touchdowns. The rush attack is the focal point of the GW offense, as they average almost 100 more rushing yards a game than passing yards. Stopping the run is a must for the Liberty defense.
2 – Keep the Foot on the Gas
If the Flames jump out to a lead like they did last week against Monmouth, they can’t lose their focus. Last week they were up 38-7 before they let the Hawks score 21 straight points and make it a game at 38-28. Yes, they went on to win, but there were some nervy moments. If they are able to get a lead, they need to hold on to it stronger than they did last week
3 – Payback for Last Season
It’s the same thing as last week. Liberty lost a game on the road that they couldn’t afford to lose last season to GW. Today, they have an opportunity to avenge that loss in front of a rambunctious crowd at Williams Stadium. They need to use that loss from last season to fuel the fire in today’s game.
