#37 for the Flames is Charles Williams. Williams is a redshirt-freshman who was a part of coach Turner Gill’s initial recruiting class at Liberty in 2012. The 6’0″ 190 pound defensive back is from Prospect, Virginia and the Fuqua School. He has been described as the “best athlete in school history” by the athletic director from the Fuqua School. Williams redshirted during his first season with Liberty last year, but should add some depth at safety in 2013. Coming out of the Spring, Williams is listed as a backup at free safety to Jacob Hagen. So, there should be plenty of opportunities for him to make an impact on Liberty’s quest for the elusive FCS playoff bid.
