Just a couple of weeks until the Flames kick off the season on September 5th, and here’s a few names to keep an eye on that have the potential for breakout seasons in 2015.
TE Kendall Couamin
Couamin has had significant playing time, including all 14 games a season ago, but he only had 4 catches for 28 yards in 2014. Expect those numbers to be much higher in 2015 for the junior tight end.
WR Zac Parker
Parker also saw significant playing time last year, but he was very inconsistent. Most of his time was spent running the jet sweep which he broke free for a 65 yard touchdown on one occasion, but was unable to produce much more than that. Parker is the top candidate to fill in as slot receiver after Gabe Henderson has graduated.
DL Nolan Spicer
Spicer had 21 tackles in a reserve role last season, but bigger things are expected out of the 6’3″, 270-pound senior defensive end. He entered camp as a starter on the line, and brings a wealth of experience.
LB Avery James
Whether its at safety or at linebacker, AJ will make his presence known in 2015. As a true freshman a season ago, he played in 13 of 14 games and finished the year with 19 tackles and 1 interception. With several losses at linebacker and safety, James will be on the field a lot this year.
S Cam Jackson
Jackson redshirted his true freshman season in 2014, but with Jacob Hagen in the NFL, Gary Sampson no longer on the team, and Avery James seeing time at linebacker, the redshirt-freshman from Texas will be counted on throughout 2015.
