In what we hope will become a new weekly feature, here are 6 notables from today’s press conference:
- Coach Gill stated they made several adjustments to get the run game going last week including playing Aharown Campbell more in order to keep all lineman below 80 snaps and utilizing Todd Macon as a short yardage back.
- Josh Woodrum said the team dominated Georgia State with the exception of the 3 long passes for touchdown, and he made special mention that Liberty is now 2-0 against Sun Belt teams.
- Gill likened Gardner-Webb’s offense to Southern Illinois in the fact that both teams are led by quarterbacks who like to run as much, if not more, than they like to pass.
- On what stands out about GWU, Gill said: “Their (defensive) front 7 is as good as anyone we will face in the FCS this season.”
- Woodrum on approaching 9,000 career yards: “I’m not worried about these milestones, winning is all I care about this season.”
- On the importance of conference play, Woodrum said: “We want to win it (the Big South) outright this year, that’s our goal.”
I like number 5. Finally, Woodrum gets the message on not talking about personal achievements.
