1. The Sun Belt isn’t very good.
Liberty is now 2-0 the past 2 seasons against Sun Belt teams, and they dominated the stat sheet against Georgia State on Saturday.
2. Damian King is going to be fun to watch.
It feels like every time the true freshman touches the ball, he’s going to the house. He seems to always make at least one guy miss. Can’t wait to watch this guy’s career over the next 4 years.
3. This is arguably the deepest and most talented WR corp in school history.
The previously mentioned King, B.J. Farrow, Zac Parker, Dante Shells and that other guy Darrin Peterson form an explosive group of playmakers.
4. The offense’s ability to possess the ball for long, sustaining drives is surreal in today’s game.
When every other team seems to be going to the hurry-up, spread look, Coach Gill’s offense does the exact opposite.
5. The secondary was abused early and often.
I lost count of how many times a Georgia State receiver got behind the Liberty secondary on Saturday.
6. With the win, the Flames pretty much sealed an at-large bid to the playoffs, if needed.
Of course, claiming the auto-bid is preferable, but a loss to Coastal in the season finale shouldn’t hurt LU’s playoff chances.
7. Win out and Liberty has a terrific chance for a top 8 seed and first round bye.
It requires an unblemished run through the Big South, something the Flames haven’t done in 7 years, but if they can do it, they should be a top 8 team nationally.
