1. Josh Woodrum delivered on his promise, again.
It wasn’t very pretty, and it didn’t always feel good, but the team got the job done when it mattered. Woodrum led the team on an 8 play, 82 yard drive in the final 5 minutes of the game needing a touchdown. He delivered one.
2. Our punter saved us.
PC was about to return a punt for a touchdown to take a commanding 17-7 lead with about 6 minutes left in the game. That was until Liberty’s Trey Turner made a game-saving tackle near midfield. He also got the punt off on the final play of the game to save us from a Michigan/Michigan State like disaster.
3. Todd Macon has earned the #1 RB job.
For the 2nd consecutive game, he led the team in rushing. After rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown against Kennesaw State, Macon rushed for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns including the go-ahead score.
4. The defense won the game with 4 takeaways.
Presby’s final 2 drives ended with Liberty interceptions. The Flames had only forced 5 turnovers all season entering the PC game.
5. Erwin Dessources played the best game of his career.
Dessources totaled 4 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery.
6. Presbyterian may have the worst passing offense in the country.
The Blue Hose finished the game 3/18 passing for 31 yards and 3 interceptions. That’s got to be some type of record.
7. The Flames’ offensive line has become its Achilles’ heel.
Josh was sacked twice, and was repeatedly forced out of the pocket. The running backs rarely got any room to run, finishing with 73 rushing yards and a putrid 2.4 yards per rush.
The O line has been our biggest problem all year, we have not run the ball effectively the entire season and been forced to become one dimensional. Todd Macon should have been our #1 RB as soon as #2 (can\\\’t remember his name), got hurt. Des Rice has not come back as strong after his injury and is very average.
