Liberty (6-16, 0-9) hosts Charleston Southern (12-8, 6-3) tonight at 7pm. Here’s what you need to know about the Buccaneers:
1. They lost to Radford in their last outing, 84-77.
This came after winning 5 straight games.
2. CSU beat Liberty, 80-58, in Charleston on January 14th.
Saah Nimley scored a (then) career-high 30 points to lead Charleston Southern to the win.
3. Nimley scored 30+ points in 4 straight games.
His 30 point performance against Liberty started this streak, which ended when Nimley scored 26 points in CSU’s loss to Radford on Wednesday.
4. Nimley is averaging 20.1 points per game this season.
The 5’8 senior guard is likely the leader for Big South Player of the Year at this point.
5. The Buccaneers shot 47% from 3-point range against the Flames.
Liberty was content to stay in their zone while CSU knocked down 17 of their 36 3-point attempts.
6. Will Saunders scored 22 points thanks to 7 3-pointers against Liberty in the teams’ last meeting.
Both marks are season-highs for the senior.
7. The Flames look to avoid falling to 0-10 for just the 2nd time in program history.
Liberty finished the 1998-99 season with an 0-10 mark in conference play.
