Liberty (2-2) is in Cancun for the Cancun Challenge. The Flames will face North Florida (1-3) with tipoff scheduled for 4pm. Here’s what you need to know about the Ospreys:
1. UNF hails from the Atlantic Sun.
They were picked to finish 2nd in the 8-team conference, and received 1 first place vote. Dunk City (Florida Gulf Coast) was the preseason pick to win the A-Sun.
2. The Ospreys were 16-16 overall and 10-8 in the A-Sun last season.
They finished in a 3-way tie for 4th place with East Tennessee State and Lipscomb.
3. UNF is 1-3 on the year.
Their only win came against Webber International (NAIA). Their 3 losses were to South Carolina (81-56), Northwestern (69-67), and Northern Iowa (66-49).
4. Dallas Moore leads the Ospreys in scoring.
The 6’1″ guard is averaging 15.8 points per game, but was held to just 2 points on 0/5 shooting on Saturday against Northern Iowa.
5. Chris Davenport is 2nd on the team in scoring and UNF’s leading rebounder.
The 6’8″ forward is averaging 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
6. Matthew Driscoll is in his 6th year as UNF’s head coach.
He is 74-90 at North Florida.
7. This will be the first ever meeting between the Flames and Ospreys.
