After playing 5 games in 11 days, the Flames have had the past week off for finals. They return to action Tuesday night in the Vines Center against South Carolina State. With a win, the Flames can tie the program’s best start through 10 games in its Division I history at 8-2.
The 2-9 Bulldogs of the MEAC have gotten off to a rough start this season, losing all 9 of their Division I games this year. They were in Blacksburg for a matchup with the Hokies on Sunday before heading over to Lynchburg. South Carolina State has lost to Liberty’s former Big South rival Charleston Southern, 89-72, and new ASUN rival Jacksonville, 71-69, this year.
This is the first of a two game home stand for the Flames before they hit the road for an extended period of time. Liberty will also face Kentucky Christian in the Vines Center on Saturday. Afterwards, they will be away from home for 6 games, beginning with a December 18th showdown with Alabama. The Flames will not return home after Saturday’s game until January 12th against Jacksonville for the team’s first home ASUN game.
