Update 6/3: The grand jury has sent Allen’s case to trial.
Suspended Liberty running back Aldreakis Allen’s grand jury trial begins today at 9:30 AM. Allen is charged with one count each of attempted robbery and malicious wounding. Allen was suspended by head football coach Turner Gill on April 2 following the charges from an incident on March 3, 2013.
Allen led the Flames last year in rushing with 1,019 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. The rising senior was set to be the offensive leader for Liberty’s 2013 campaign. Allen was dismissed from the program in July of 2010. After a year away from the team, former Liberty head coach Danny Rocco brought Allen back to the team in 2011.
