The ASUN announced the 2021-22 men’s basketball schedule on Wednesday, revealing the majority of Liberty’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season.
The ASUN has expanded to 12 teams with the addition of Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State. The league is now divided into two divisions with Liberty being part of the East Division with the four Florida schools (FGCU, Jacksonville, North Florida, Stetson) and Kennesaw State. The West Division consists of Bellarmine, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, and North Alabama.
The conference members will continue to play 16 conference games apiece. Each ASUN member will face the other five teams within its own division twice (once home and once away) and will match up with the six teams from the other division once each.
Liberty will begin its quest for a fourth straight ASUN Championship on Jan. 6 at Stetson. The home conference opener is on Jan. 8 against Kennesaw State. The Flames will face conference newcomers Central Arkansas on Jan. 22 at UCA, Jacksonville State on Jan. 29 at Liberty Arena, and Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 5 at EKU.
The Flames will meet North Alabama at Liberty Arena on Jan. 27 for an ASUN Championship rematch from 2021. Bellarmine, who was a newcomer in the ASUN last season and finished second place in the conference regular season standings, will host Liberty in Louisville, Kentucky on Feb. 3.
The conference schedule can now be added to several non-conference games which have been announced previously. Liberty will play at LSU on Nov. 15, host Missouri at Liberty Arena on Dec. 2, play East Carolina in Charlotte on Dec. 17, and compete in the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii Dec. 22-25.
