Here’s a quick basketball recruiting update from the last week or two:
Zane Waterman committed to Manhattan
Liberty had offered Waterman, but he narrowed his list to a top 5 of Charlotte, St. Joe’s, Richmond, Manhattan, and Cincinnati earlier this Summer. You can see his recruit profile here. Waterman seems very similar in skill set to Stavian Allen. It’s likely Liberty backed off Waterman, and intensified their pursuit of Allen once they realized they were unlikely to nab Zane.
Allen visits this weekend
Liberty verbal commit Stavian Allen will be on campus for the football game against Morgan State this weekend. Allen gave Liberty a verbal back in August. This past weekend, Allen reportedly put on a show at the Gym Rat All-Star Game.
Michael Stones update
The lone reported class of 2015 offer from Liberty is for PG Michael Stones of Orlando, Florida. Liberty was the first to offer Stones, but he has since added offers from Dartmouth, Jacksonville, and Army. ESPN has rated him as a 3 star prospect, and here is a recent interview he conducted with VerbalCommits.
Liberty to check out Xavier Mills
The Flames have 3 frontcourt verbals so far in Evan Maxwell, Stavian Allen, and Ezra Talbert. So, Coach Layer and company obviously need to add some guards to their important class of 2014. One point guard Liberty has offered is Xavier Mills, and according to Justin Byerly, the Flames were scheduled to check in on him this week.
Liberty and Campbell will be in this week to see 2014 PG Xavier Mills of Greenfield School (NC). @_TheRealXMAN_
