Just one week left in the regular season and 3 teams still have a chance to own at least a share of the conference championship. Who will win the Big South’s coveted auto-bid to the FCS playoffs, and will any Big South teams receive an at-large?
Note: last week’s ranking in parenthesis.
1. (2) Coastal Carolina 10-1, 4-1
The Chanticleers didn’t skip a beat following their first loss of the season as they rolled to a 46-13 rout over Presbyterian. With the win and Charleston Southern’s loss, Coastal clinches at least a share of the conference championship. Regardless of the outcome of the CSU/Liberty game this weekend, the Chanticleers should be a lock for the playoffs.

2. (1) Charleston Southern 10-2, 3-1
Charleston Southern’s matchup with Gardner-Webb did not have much impact on their chances at the Big South auto-bid, and the Buccaneers played like it. CSU lost to Gardner-Webb 27-10 after trailing 20-0 at halftime. Still, if CSU defeats Liberty Saturday, the Buccaneers will clinch the Big South’s auto-bid, and advance to the FCS playoffs for the first time in school history.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs with the upset of the week after they knocked off Charleston Southern 27-10. Not a bad rebound after dropping four out of five games. With a win Saturday, GWU will give the Big South 4 teams with winning records on the season.

The Blue Hose had no match for Lorenzo Taliaferro and Coastal as they lost 46-13. Presbyterian finishes their season at home against Gardner-Webb with 4th place in the conference on the line.
