Multiple media outlets are reporting that Liberty signee Braxton Bonds will be attending the University of Tennessee this year and will likely walk-on to the basketball team. Bonds, a 3-star recruit from Nashville, signed with the Flames last November. As we reported last week, he was on campus at Liberty for a week in June before leaving. He was apparently unhappy and did not want to return to Lynchburg. According to knoxblogs.com, Liberty has released Bonds from his NLI.
We alluded to the likelihood of Bonds enrolling at Tennessee for this year in our Friday Links & Tweets post after seeing this tweet late last week.
Welcome to the Knox fam @bbonds23 next year will be a blast with you as the roomie;) — Leaves (@Bronlevy) July 24, 2014
It makes sense for Tennessee to welcome Braxton Bonds with open arms, especially if they can do so without offering him a scholarship this year. One of Bonds’ high school teammates Braxton Blackwell is a 5 star recruit with interest from several high-major teams including Tennessee, and according to one report, Bonds heading to Knoxville could put the Volunteers in the lead for Blackwell.
Sources tell us that 2016 5 star Nashville wing, Braxton Blackwell has Tennessee #1 on his list, was thought to be a strong #iubb lean.
