Buckshot is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the country and he was recently ranked as the 92nd best starting quarterback in the country by Pro Football Focus. PFF recently released its 2019 starting QB rankings with Liberty and Calvert cracking the top 100. The ranking includes all 130 FBS programs.
Here’s what the site had to say about the senior:
Buckshot Calvert has has a big arm, there is no denying that. It’s just a matter of how he intends to use it and how safe he can be with the ball before the Flames can fly high with him at the helm. Just a season ago, only Sitkowski had more turnover-worthy passes than Calvert did, granted Calvert had quite a few more big-time throws to his name.
If he didn’t have those 18 interceptions last season, Calvert would certainly find his name much higher on this list, and that’s something the Liberty coaches have been working with him on during the offseason and training camp. Both head coach Hugh Freeze and QB coach Kent Austin have stated that he has been much more reliable with his turnovers during the early stages of camp.
Here’s where the rest of Liberty’s 2019 opponents land on the list:
130. Rutgers: Artur Sitkowski
125. New Mexico: Tevaka Tuioti
123. Buffalo: Matt Myers/Kyle Vantrease
119. UMass: Andrew Brito
118. New Mexico State: Josh Adkins
70. Syracuse: Tommy DeVito
66. Louisiana: Levi Lewis
30. BYU: Zach Wilson
15. Virginia: Bryce Perkins
