Liberty sophomore quarterback Buckshot Calvert began the season with a bang, completing 44-of-60 passes for 447 yards, which were all single game school records, to help lead the Flames to its first ever win against a P5 opponent when Liberty knocked off Baylor in the season opener. Calvert’s record breaking pace has not faded.
With just one game left in the 2017 season, Buckshot has the ability to own nearly all of the single season passing records in program history. His 27 touchdown passes has already broken the previous record of 24. Calvert needs just 25 completions, 33 attempts, and 118 passing yards against Charleston Southern Saturday to be the Liberty single season record holder in each category.
Phil Basso threw for 3,226 yards in 1984, Calvert has 3,108 yards currently. In 1991, Robby Justino completed 257 passes on 427 attempts, Calvert is currently 232-of-394 passing this season.
