Liberty Senior Forward Antwan Burrus is done for the season with a stress fracture in his foot. The 6’6″ 235 lb Winterville, North Carolina native was poised to make his final season in a Flames jersey a memorable one. He will now have to wait until next year, if he plans to seek a redshirt, to finish his Liberty career.
Burrus was entering the season as the Flames’ second leading scorer from a season ago where he averaged 11.2 points per game. Antwan was also the Flames’ leading returning rebounder from last season. He averaged 6.3 boards a season ago.
Walk-on reserve guard Kelly Assinesi has also decided to leave the team. Assinesi, a Sophomore from Greenville, SC, had appeared in all 12 contests this season averaging 8.2 minutes per game.
Sommy Ogukwe will miss tonight’s matchup with Union College due to a concussion he suffered in a recent car accident.
