The least surprising news of the day, Liberty senior-forward Caleb Homesley has been named ASUN Player of the week following his impressive outings in the Flames’ wins at Jacksonville and North Alabama last week.
Homesley tied his season high with 25 points in Liberty’s win Thursday night over Jacksonville. He scored 10 of the team’s first 15 points before finishing with his fourth 20-point game of the season on a career-high 11 field goals.
The ASUN Preseason Player of the Year was even more electrifying on Saturday at North Alabama, scoring the team’s first 8 points and 19 points by the 11 minute mark of the first half. He reached 25 points by halftime and finished with 30, tying his career high which he set in Liberty’s NCAA Tournament win over Mississippi State.
In the two games, Homesley averaged 27.5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game while shooting 56.7% from the field and 50% from three.
This is Homesley’s second ASUN Player of the Week nominee, as he also was named Player of the Week on January 6th. He’s now tied for the most ASUN Player of the Week distinctions this season with teammate Scottie James, North Florida’s Carter Hendricksen and Garrett Sams, and Lipscomb’s Ahsan Asadullah.
