Mills has been the head football coach at CSU since 2003 with an overall record of 48-63 and 18-31 in conference play. He led the Buccaneers to a conference title in 2005. This past season, Mills guided CSU to a 5-6 rcord. Mills was 1-9 all-time against Liberty.
Sad to see him go…seems that he couldnt quite get the Bucs to take that next step into the upper tier and become a regular competitor for the conference title.
Well, according to the CSU sports information director, Charleston Southern has been an upper tier competitor since 2005 and regularly takes on the big boys of FBS just like Boise State does. Oh, why can’t we all be just like Charleston Southern?
In other news, Baghdad Bob is apparently the sports information director at Charleston Southern.
Poor timing for this retirement. Recruiting is in full gear and signing day is about a month away. Have a happy retirement Jay.
The grapevine says that Mills’ contract was up and CSU was only going to extend him a single year. It wouldn’t take a genius to see the writing on the wall.
