Liberty has picked up a commitment from Colorado State transfer wide receiver Jamari Person.

Person is a 6’1″, 200 pound receiver originally from Nashville, Tennessee. He played in 5 games during his freshman season in 2023 at Colorado State, including one start. He had 1 catch for 8 yards. This past season, Person played in 12 games and finished the season with 36 receptions for 386 yards and a touchdown.

Person was second on the team for Colorado State this past season in both catches and yards. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining, helping the Rams to an 8-4 regular season. Person’s high water mark this past year was 10 catches for 125 yards and a  touchdown on Nov. 23 at Fresno State. He also caught 7 passes for 51 yards against Colorado on Sept. 14.

He was a three-star recruit out of high school where he attended Haywood in Nashville.  Person had 72 catches for 1,336 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior when he was a captain and Mr. Football semifinalist. He committed to Colorado State out of high school over numerous offers including Indiana, Marshall, and others.

Person is the second wide receiver to commit to the Flames in the transfer portal joining former Texas and UNLV transfer Casey Cain. Wide receiver is certainly a position of need for the Flames for 2025. Liberty struggled to find consistency at the position in 2024 while several of the team’s top players at the position struggled to stay healthy. Person and Cain should be able to help, at the minimum, provide depth at the position while also competing for starting time.
