ULM is 2-3 on the season and and 1-2 in the SunBelt Conference heading into this week’s game at home against Liberty. Led by head coach Terry Bowden, who is in his first season at ULM, the Warhawks upset Troy earlier this year, 29-16. With the Flames favored by 32 against ULM, head coach Hugh Freeze stated the Warhawks defense is very athletic and offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez is known for being a great offensive mind. Freeze warned about taking them lightly this week.
Terry Bowden, son of legendary coach Bobby Bowden, has an overall record of 175-114 during his 25 year career. Prior to his stop at ULM which just begin this year, Bowden has also served as a head coach at Samford, Auburn, North Alabama, and Akron.
Rich Rodriguez joined Bowden during the offseason as offensive coordinator. Rodriguez is known for being an innovative offensive mind dating back to his time as head coach at West Virginia. He has also been head coach at Michigan and Arizona and was most recently offensive coordinator at Ole Miss.
Rich Rod’s son, Rhett Rodriguez, suffered a scary injury earlier this season in a home game against Troy on Sept. 25. He had a punctured lung, but finished the game before post game treatment led him to being rushed to the hospital where he spent a couple of days.
