MTSU is fresh off of a 34-28 win against Marshall last Saturday and is currently 2-3 overall and 1-2 in C-USA. The Blue Raiders could easily be 3-2 after losing a close game the previous week to Charlotte, 42-39.
Head coach, Rick Stockstill is in his 16th year at MTSU, making him the 5th longest tenured coach in the country. Stockstill has an overall record of 94-92 at MTSU. Over that time period, he has been nominated coach of the year several times, including his most recent accolade of C-USA coach of the year in 2018.
The head coach stated in his press conference this week that Liberty is the best team they have played thus far in the season. That is including a loss earlier this year against Virginia Tech, 35-14. Stockstill not only is impressed with Willis at QB, but had high praise for the defense as well, saying that Liberty is the fastest defense they have played this season and is the best defense they have seen to this point.
The homecoming game will kick off at 3:30 Saturday as the Flames host MTSU at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia.
