The NFL has invited 319 prospects to the NFL Scouting Combine, it announced on Wednesday, and Liberty wide receiver Demario Douglas is one of them. The combine will take place in Indianapolis from March 2 through March 5.
Douglas becomes the most recent Liberty player to compete in the Scouting Combine, joining most recent invitees Malik Willis, Antonio Gandy-Golden, who attended the event in 2020, and Josh Woodrum and John Lunsford who attended the event in 2016.
After a strong week of practice at the East West Shrine Bowl, Douglas turned a lot of heads and grabbed a lot of coaches and scouts attentions throughout the week with his performance in practice. He was frequently highlighted as one of the top players, regardless of position, at the Shrine Bowl throughout the week.
During his career at Liberty, Douglas hauled in 172 passes for 2,193 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 7 times for 109 yards and a score. Douglas was also Liberty’s primary punt returner during his collegiate days, finishing his career with 55 punt returns for 383 yards and two touchdowns.
Douglas has seen his draft projections range from the 4th round to a 6th-7th round pick to this point. The NFL Draft begins April 27.
