We finalize the offensive position breakdowns today with a look at the wide receivers.
Wide Receiver analysis:
Gone is Liberty’s all-time leading receiver, Darrin Peterson, but the cupboard is anything but bare at receiver. The Flames’ returning receivers combine for 94 games played, 35 starts, 181 receptions for 2,509 yards and 9 touchdowns.
WR (X)
1. B.J. Farrow (So., 6-2, 170)
Farrow broke onto the scene as a freshman in 2015, finishing the year with 32 receptions for 448 yards and 2 touchdowns. He even started 10 games, but spent most of the year in Darrin Peterson’s shadow. How will he transition to being Liberty’s top target and near the top of the opposing team defense’s scouting chart?
2. Kyle Carrington (R-Fr., 6-1, 175)
In 2015, Carrington actually saw playing time in 3 games and even hauled in 3 receptions for 14 yards, but due to his limited playing time was able to redshirt.
WR (Z)
1. Dante’ Shells (Sr., 6-1, 175)
In what seems like his 8th year at Liberty, Dante Shells is the veteran of the group having appeared in 35 games while making 14 starts throughout his career. His career stat line is impressive as he totals 76 receptions for 1,406 yards and 6 touchdowns. He’s struggled with consistency throughout his career, and he has occasionally struggled with dropped passes.
2. Jordan Williams (Sr., 6-1, 190)
Williams spent all of 2015 at safety, seeing playing time in all 11 games and starting 2.
WR (H)
1. Zac Parker (Sr., 5-9, 175)
Parker is the team’s top returning receiver from 2015, as he finished 2nd on the team last year with 49 receptions and 464 yards. Unlike Shells, it seems like Parker just got on campus, but he is already a senior.
2. Damian King (So., 5-11, 170)
As a true freshman, King showed he has the talent to compete at this level. He saw playing time in 10 games while hauling in 18 receptions for 161 yards. He also connected for 2 touchdown passes.
