This is the fourth piece in a five-part series taking a look at Liberty football entering 2024 fall practices. Be sure to check back for the rest of this series throughout the week as we tackle a variety of Liberty football topics.

Julian Gray

Gray was an all-conference kick returner at NC State. Now, he comes to Liberty where he will not only have the opportunity to return kicks but also has a chance to make a significant impact with his hands on the ball when the offense is on the field. He could grow into a game changer for the Flames with his elusiveness and speed.

Jacob Jenkins

We are all familiar with Bentley Hanshaw and Austin Henderson at tight end for the Flames, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Jacob Jenkins emerge as a serious threat for the team at the position. He’s been in the program for a year and was with the coaching staff for a year prior at Coastal Carolina, so he knows them, they know him, and he knows the system.

CJ Bazile

It may have come as a surprise to see Bazile named CUSA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. The Liberty defensive end – who can also line up at outside linebacker – has all the potential to take his game to the next level. Last year was his first time with significant and consistent playing time for the Flames and his play was inconsistent at times, but, as the season wore on, Bazile just kept getting better.

Jahmar Brown

The former Coastal Carolina linebacker comes to Liberty and should immediately step into some playing time. He’s similar to Jerome Jolly with his ability to step into the secondary and play coverage as a safety while also lining up in the box to stop the run.

Amarian Williams

Williams was overshadowed last year by the highlight plays made by others in the secondary, but now the Liberty corner should be able to step into the spotlight. He quietly put together a very good season last year and teams began to shy away from throwing the ball his way.
