Rashad Jennings – Running Back (New York Giants)
Jennings has been the most successful player to come out of Liberty, and he looks to have another strong season as the lead Running Back for the Giants. He led the G-Men with 863 rushing yards in 2015, and appears to be clearly atop the depth chart to start 2016. He’s only rushed for 20 yards on 13 carries through the first 3 preseason games, but don’t look too much into that. He should be the main ball carrier for New York this season.
Walt Aikens – Safety (Miami Dolphins)
Aikens posted a strong sophomore season in 2015 for Miami. He appeared in all 16 games and recorded 29 tackles, 14 more than he recorded in his rookie season. He led the Dolphins with 5 tackles in their opening preseason game against the Giants, and he added 2 more against Dallas in the second preseason game. He’s currently listed as a second string safety on the Dolphins official depth chart, but he should see enough game action to have a chance to make an impact this season.
Jennings and Aikens are the only former Flames currently on an NFL roster. Some other notable names that have been cut during the preseason are John Lunsford (49ers), Jacob Hagen (Steelers), Niko Davis (Chiefs), and Darrin Peterson (Bears).
