We are pleased to announce that Zach Powell and Evan Nester have joined Flames Nation! Zach and Evan will assist us in covering Liberty athletics as a whole, but will focus the majority of their time on football and men’s basketball.

Zach is an avid sports fan who began his journalism career in 2004. He’s covered teams across the sports spectrum: spanning from college basketball to the Washington Redskins. In addition to his work with Sports Media 101, Zach has worked for Most Valuable Network, Screaming Sports and has had work published with the Gridiron Guide to the NFL Draft, and was also the former co-host of the podcast Heads or Tails on the Most Valuable Network. Zach graduated from Liberty in 2008 and again in 2011 with a Masters of Divinity and is currently serving as a Campus Pastor with Mission Church in Stanfield, North Carolina.

Evan is in his 3rd year at Liberty where he is getting a degree in biblical Studies. He hopes to continue in his education following his undergrad and eventually pastor a church. He has spent time both in high school and at Liberty working on the school yearbook. His interest for sports didn’t develop until he came to Liberty, but he is now an avid Liberty Flames enthusiast!
