Following Liberty’s win Sunday over Lipscomb in the ASUN Championship game, the Flames are receiving votes in both major polls for the first time in school history.
The updated Associated Press and Coaches’ Top 25 polls were released Monday, and Liberty received 1 vote in the AP Top 25 and 2 votes in the Coaches’ Top 25. Liberty (28-6 overall, 14-2 ASUN) has won 18 of 20 games and has tied the program record for most wins in a season. Liberty is just one of seven teams in the country with 28 or more wins on the season.
The Flames are awaiting Selection Sunday this weekend to see where the team will head for its 4th ever NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2013. Scottie James was named ASUN Tournament MVP following a 3-game tournament where the redshirt-junior averaged 18.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 20-of-31 (64.5%) from the field. Lovell Cabbil and Caleb Homesley were also named to the all-tournament team.
