Liberty announced it will be playing Southern Methodist as part of its non conference schedule in 2016. Also included on that schedule is Virginia Tech, Jacksonville, Robert Morris, and Coastal Carolina to go along with Big South Conference games against Charleston Southern, Monmouth, Kennesaw State, Gardner-Webb, and Presbyterian.
The Flames were originally scheduled to play North Texas in 2016, but the Mean Green recently released their non conference schedule for 2016 with Liberty not listed.
SMU is part of the American Athletic Conference. The Mustangs are currently 1-7 overall and 0-4 in conference. Their only win came against North Texas, and they lost to James Madison, 48-45, in September.
