Florida A&M defensive lineman Gentle Hunt is scheduled to visit Liberty May 17-19th, according to a report.
A 2023 All-SWAC second-team selection, Hunt had 32 tackles, 11 TFLs, and 5.5 sacks in 2023. He has one season of eligibility remaining. The 5’11”, 290 pound Hunt has picked up numerous offers in the portal, including from Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern, Old Dominion, Marshall, Western Kentucky, Sam Houston, Miami (OH), Rice, UTEP, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Nevada, and UMass.
In his career at FAMU, Hunt totaled 89 tackles, 24 TFLs, and 11.5 sacks, playing in 32 games. He was one of the best players on one of the best defenses and teams in the FCS last season.
Hunt and FAMU won the Celebration Bowl over Howard while also going undefeated against the SWAC in the regular season and undefeated against FCS competition. By winning the Celebration Bowl, FAMU was named the 2023 HBCU COllege Football National Champions under head coach Willie Simmons.
Liberty could certainly use additional depth on the interior of its defensive line, to help booster that unit entering the 2024 season where the Flames will be looking to repeat as CUSA Champions and reclaim its spot as the top Group of Five team in the country.
