As announced by President Jerry Falwell, Jr. on Friday, Liberty will be making a major upgrade and expansion to the Arthur L. Williams Football Operations Center (FOC). The expansion will nearly double the size of the current FOC, which was built in 2006, from 48,000 square feet to approximately 75,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin after the last home football game this year against New Mexico State on November 24th.
Features will include a player lounge on the ground level which will double as a recruiting area for football and other sports, a renovated and enlarged team locker room with room for over 100 lockers in a spoke layout, updates to the training room and weight room, and a second story that will feature patios that look out onto the field.
The soccer locker room, which is currently located next to the soccer stadium adjacent to Williams Stadium, will be incorporated into the west-side addition of the FOC. This will leave more space to expand the north stadium entrance and add more security checkpoints to allow fans to enter Williams Stadium much quicker.
Williams Stadium is currently undergoing renovations with a second level on the west side and additional enhancements behind the north end zone which will be completed prior to Liberty’s 2018 season opener against Old Dominion on September 1st. Previous announcements have also included expansion to the current 5-story tower on the east side of the stadium which are scheduled to take place at the conclusion of the 2018 season to be ready prior to kickoff of the 2019 season.
