A lot has changed since our previous update a couple of weeks ago. So, here’s a current glance at where the Flames stand with their 2015 class with signing day set for February 5th.
Verbals
S Cameron Jones
The Flames first commitment of the 2015 class came from Jones back on July 12th. The local product is expected to begin his career at safety.
ATH Jaylyn McKinney
The 6’1″, 215 pound prospect from Lakeland, Florida committed to Coach Gill and staff on December 12th. He had reported offers from Mississippi State, FIU, and Iowa State. McKinney will play defense at Liberty, likely either linebacker or safety.
TE Zac Foutz
Foutz has been rated by Roanoke.com as the #42 prospect in the state of Virginia. He committed to the Flames on October 25th while visiting campus during Liberty’s game with Gardner-Webb. He made his official visit this past weekend.
OL Ernst Andersen
A bit of an unknown, Andersen committed to Liberty on November 12th. The 6’6″, 300 pound offensive lineman hails from Norway and also had an offer from Eastern Illinois. Andersen has enrolled at Liberty for the Spring semester.
DE Juwan Wells
Wells visited campus during the Monmouth game and committed on November 20th. He has several other reported offers including Old Dominion, South Alabama, and Troy.
ATH Denvre Daniels
Daniels is a 3 star prospect from Cedar Hill, Texas. He has reported offers from Colorado State and New Mexico State. He finished his senior season with 1,170 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns and 593 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Daniels committed during his visit this past weekend. He is being recruited by Liberty as a running back/wide receiver.
WR Damian King
King is a 3-star prospect from Indian Rocks Christian School in Largo, Florida. Indian Rocks lost to Victory Christian (Jaylyn McKinney’s school) in the 2A state championship game in December. King has several FBS offers including West Virginia, Missouri, and Kansas State. He committed following his official visit this past weekend.
DB Jeremy Peters
The prospect from Green Cove Springs, Florida, has offers from Kent State, Liberty, Akron, Marshall, and Middle Tennessee State. Peters committed while on his official visit this past weekend.
DL William Brown
Brown was a new name to us that visited this past weekend. He committed while on his visit and also had offers from Arkansas State, Texas State, and Central Arkansas.
Pending Offers
ATH Michael Holmes
Holmes has 18 offers including Kentucky, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Charlotte, UMass, Boston College, and Ohio. In August, he told Scout that Georgia State, Kentucky, and ODU were his top 3. Even still, he says he is still considering Liberty. He projects as a tight end or linebacker.
RB Frankie Hickson
Liberty has offered Hickson who was on an official visit this past weekend. He plans to make his decision public on signing day. He also has offers from VMI, Navy, Air Force, and Dartmouth.
OL Dontae Duff
The Flames just offered Duff after Christmas. He also has offers from Jackson State and Grambling State. His teammate, Malik Jefferson, is the top prospect out of the state of Texas. He will be visiting Liberty this weekend.
OL Miles Pate
He has committed to Memphis.
OL Matthew Pittarelli
He committed to Samford while on an official visit this past weekend. He was scheduled to visit Liberty this coming weekend, but has called his visit off.
DE Cody Banks
He has committed to Central Florida.
DT Jaleel Carter
Carter is off the board as he has committed to Air Force.
DT Darrell Henderson
Liberty is no longer looking at Henderson.
DL Dorian Kithcart
Kithcart released his top 5 which includes Liberty, William & Mary, Kent State, Mercer and Kennesaw State. He visited Kent State this past weekend, and is scheduled to visit Liberty this coming weekend.
LB Jasias Bonaparte
Bonaparte will be going to a JUCO.
DB Malik Clements
Clements committed to Cincinnati in February of 2014, but was on an official visit at Liberty this past weekend. He is a 3-star rated prospect.

DB Roe Farris, Jr
Liberty is no longer looking at Farris.
DB Deontae Henderson
Henderson has reported offers from Campbell, Cornell and Liberty. He attends Providence Day in Charlotte, North Carolina.
DB Khylil James
In addition to his offer from Liberty, James also has offers from James Madison and Old Dominion. He is scheduled to visit Liberty January 30th.
DB Anthony Johnson
The defensive back from Cibolo, Texas only has the one reported offer from Liberty. He recorded 41 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 1 interception and 4 pass deflections during his senior season. His high school, Cibolo Steele lost to Katy High School in the state semifinals. He is scheduled to visit January 30th.
DB Shelton Lewis
I’m not sure if Lewis is still considering Liberty. The 3-star prospect from Orlando has numerous FBS offers. He committed to Purdue back in September, but has since de-committed. He’s taken or is scheduled to take visits this month to Cincinnati, South Florida, and Florida Atlantic.
DB Damon Smith
Smith finished his senior season with 21 tackles and 9 pass deflections. The 6’2″ defensive back’s only reported offer is from Liberty. Smith is from Homestead, Florida. I haven’t heard anything new on him recently, so he may be off Liberty’s board.
S Lewis Cousins III
It does not sound like Cousins is still on Liberty’s board.
S Denzel Johnson
Johnson has offers from Liberty, Towson, Georgia Southern, Clemson, Appalachian State, and South Carolina State. He visited Liberty in November, and Coach Wimberly visited him January 5th. He was named offensive MVP in an All-Star game where he finished with 3 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. He visited Clemson this past weekend. Johnson will also visit NC State on January 30th.
