Liberty has added a commitment from Purdue transfer defensive lineman Joe Strickland. Pete Nakos of On3Sports first reported the news, and ASOR can confirm it.

Strickland is a 6’4″, 290 pound defensive lineman who has three years of eligibility remaining. He entered the portal on April 16 after spending three seasons with the Boilermakers, appearing in one game in 2022 and in one game in 2024. Originally from Indianapolis, Strickland was a consensus four-star rated prospect coming out of high school. He was ranked in the ESPN 300 as the No. 227 prospect in the nation and the fifth best player in the state of Indiana. He had 70 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries as a senior to help lead his team to a state runner up finish. Strickland will be added to a defensive line that lost several players from that position including TJ Bush, Jay Hardy, and Chris Boti. Strickland will be added to an interior defensive line that includes Bryce Dixon, Mike Jarvis, Eli Hall, DJ Jackson, and Markus Clark.
