Liberty’s 2022 baseball season has come to an end, and the 2022 MLB Draft is scheduled for mid-July. It is expected that the Flames will add additional names to major league organizations at that time and they will join the growing list of former Flames currently with MLB organizations.
DJ Artis
Artis was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 7th round of the 2018 draft. Since that time he has bee in the Cubs’ organization, most recently playing on their Double-A affiliate the Tennessee Smokies. In 2021, Artis batted .189 with 7 home runs, 25 RBIs, and 19 steals. He hasn’t played yet this season as he was placed on the 60-day injured list in April.
Jack DeGroat
DeGroat was drafted in the 11th round of the 2018 draft by the Cleveland Indians. Fighting injuries most of his career, he was just assigned to the Arizona Complex League team of the Indians to begin his rehab.
Fraser Ellard
After a standout season with Liberty, Ellard was taken in the 8th round of the 2021 draft by the Chicago White Sox. He began this season with the Winston Salem Dash, a High-A affiliate, before getting called up to the White Sox’ Double-A affiliate the Birmingham Barons in late May. In four appearances with the Barons, Ellard has a 2.08 ERA with two saves in his two save opportunities. He has allowed five hits and one run in 4.1 innings pitched while striking out five and walking three.
Andrew McInvale
McInvale was drafted in the 37th round of the 2019 draft by the Toronto Blue Days. In June 2021, he was traded to the Miami Marlins. He is currently with their Double-A affiliate the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. In five games this season, McInvale has a 9.00 ERA. He has tossed 7 innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs.
Noah Skirrow
Skirrow began the 2022 season in the Philadelphia Phillies orgnization with their Double-A affiliate the Reading Fightin Phils before being transferred to the Development List on June 4. In eight appearances this season, all starts, SKirrow had a 3-4 record with a 3.60 ERA. In 35 innigs pitched, he allowed 33 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 43 and walking 10.
Will Wagner
Wagner was taken in the 18th round of last year’s draft by the Houston Astros. He began this season with their High-A affiliate the Asheville Tourists before being called up to the Double-A affiliate, the Corpus Christi Hooks, in early June. In 45 games played for the Tourists, Wagner had a .276 batting average with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs, 25 RBIs, and 32 walks.
