INJURY UPDATE

The Flames entered the week very banged up on the defensive side of the ball, but it looks like most of the questionable guys will give it a go on Saturday at UMass.

“(CB) Bejour (Wilson), he’s not 100%, but he’s going to give it a go,” Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze said. “(CB Emanuel) Dabney will give it a go. (LB Brandon) Tillmon will give it a go, (LB) Solomon (Ajayi) will too.”

Defensive end Austin Lewis and safety Javon Scruggs are the only two who are definitely out as they continue to recover from a concussion in the Rutgers game.

With Lewis out, Elijah James will play at one defensive end with TreShaun Clark, while Jessie Lemonier and Jayod Sanders man the other side.

At safety, Isaac Steele will get the start for Scruggs alongside Elijah Benton while Ben Alexander and Micah Glaize fill out the two-deep at safety behind Steele and Beton.

Kick returner/wide receiver Shedro Louis and wide receiver Damian King will both also give it a go on Saturday.

CHANGE ON THE D-LINE

Former 3-star offensive line signee Henry Chibueze has been moved to the defensive line where he is playing behind Ralfs Rusins and Devin Pearson at nose guard. Chibueze was one of the highest rated recruits in the 2018 class, ashe chose Liberty over offers from East Carolina, James Madison, North Carolina, Temple, and Virginia.

Chibueze redshirted as a true freshman last year, and he had a difficult time breaking into the 2-deep on the offensive line this year. The 6’3″, 340 pound lineman is originally from Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, he officially made the move from the offensive line to the defensive line full-time a few weeks ago.

FREEZE QUESTIONED SEVERAL PLAYS IN RUTGERS GAME

This week, Freeze made an official complaint on several calls from the Rutgers game.

“I sent in about 11 plays, most I’ve probably ever sent in,” he said. “We were not offsides on the onside kick, which I could see on film, anybody who watched it. (The hit on Scruggs) definitely should have been flagged, plus some others.”
