Liberty opens the 2015 season this Saturday night at 7pm against Delaware State at Williams Stadium.
Why Delaware State can win this game
They have a new head coach. Anytime a team is a 5+ touchdown underdog, it’s tough to find many real reasons why they can win the game. The Hornets’ do have an element of surprise going for them with a first time head coach in Kenneth Carter. Carter comes to DSU with extensive coaching experience with his most recent stops at Youngstown State and Louisville.
It’s the first game of the season. Kind of going along with point #1, Delaware State could catch the Flames on a good night with it being the season opener perhaps Liberty will be rusty and the Hornets may have a few tricks rolled up their sleeves being such a large underdog.
Why Liberty can win this game
The Flames’ offense should be very explosive this season with a 4-year starter at QB, an All-American WR, and 2 all-conference RBs. If ever there was a game that an inexperienced offensive line could work out the kinks, it’s one like Delaware State where Liberty is so much bigger, faster, and stronger.
The home crowd should give Liberty plenty of energy from the beginning of the game. Coming off the best season in school history, Flames Nation will come out in droves to support the 2015 version of the Flames.
X-Factor for this game
Kenneth Carter.
Maybe DSU has found a hidden gem in their new head coach, and he is ready to take the MEAC and FCS by storm. The first-year head coach definitely has his work cut out for him in week 1.
