On Sunday, Liberty picked up their first commitment out of the transfer portal in this cycle as former Georgia Tech running back Evan Dickens has committed to the Flames. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Dickens commits after visiting campus over the weekend. As a true freshman in 2023 with the Yellow Jackets, Dickens appeared in 12 games primarily on special teams and as a reserve running back. The 5’11”, 195 pound back played in 12 games while rushing 11 times for 47 yards on 30 offensive plays over six games. He did not play for Georgia Tech in 2024.

Dickens finished his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida. He was a three star recruit out of high school with several offers. He originally committed to Coastal Carolina under much of the current Liberty staff before flipping to the ACC program in Atlanta. Dickens is originally from Roswell, Georgia where he attended Blessed Trinity.

As a senior at IMG, Dickens rushed for 480 yards and 9 touchdowns on 57 carries. He also caught 3 passes for 31 yards. Dickens had 100 yards on 13 carries with 3 touchdowns in the ESPN High School Showcase game as IMG Academy defeated Central-Phenix City.

Liberty’s running back room will have a very different look in 2025. Quinton Cooley and Billy Lucas have exhausted their eligibility while James Jointer and Victor Venn have entered the transfer portal. Dickens will be in the mix along with returners Vaughn Blue and Caden Williams, as well as incoming true freshmen Malachi Fannin-Render and Jaylon Coleman.
