In his six year career, Aikens has formed a reputation as being one of the best special teams players in the AFC. While also seeing playing time for the Miami Dolphins at safety, Aikens has recorded 19 tackles in 12 games played this season. He is a team captain as he serves as the Dolphins’ special teams captain. He leads the Dolphins with 6 special teams tackles and ranks among the NFL leaders in the category.
Drafted in the 4th round of the NFL Draft in 2014, Aikens starred at Liberty from 2011-2013 where he led the team with 62 tackles his senior season. The Harding University High School product from Charlotte, North Carolina, Aikens began his career at Illinois where he earned All-Big Ten freshman honors following the 2009 season where he played in 10 games as a true freshman and started in five games at safety. After that season, he transferred to Liberty.
Aikens has played in 90 games in his NFL career, amassing 90 tackles, 3 passes defended, and 2 interceptions.
