Tomasz Gielo will look to lead a very inexperienced Flames team into the 2014-15 season |
Every recruiting class is important, but the 2014 Liberty basketball class will be one of the most important the program has seen in a while.
Of the 14 players who are on the 2013-14 roster, 6 are seniors. Of the 8 players who were in the regular rotation during the 2013 Big South Championship run, only 2 will be on the roster in 2014-15. Names that will be gone include Davon Marshall, JC Sanders, JR Coronado, and Joel Vander Pol.
As of today, here is who will have eligibility remaining in 2014-15:
Tomasz Gielo – 5.71 career scoring average
Chad Donley – 2.81 career scoring average
Andrew Smith – 2.62 career scoring average
Ethan Layer – 1.80 career scoring average
Sommy Ogukwe – 1.05 career scoring average
Wesley Alcegaire – 0 total minutes
Joe Retic – 0 total minutes
Ryan Kemrite – 0 total minutes
To say the team will be inexperienced is quite the understatement.
Dale Layer and the coaching staff will have at least 6 scholarships available, the promise of playing time, and an NCAA Tournament appearance to entice kids with. The 2014 basketball recruiting class will set the foundation for the program for the next 3-4 years.
