For the first time since 2017, and the first time as an FBS member, Liberty has started the season 2-0 following wins over Conference USA foes Western Kentucky and Florida International. The 2019 Cure Bowl win and 2-0 start has the Flames with their eyes on another bowl game in 2020.
This week, Liberty is finding itself in a couple of intriguing options in bowl projections. CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm currently projects the Flames in the Boca Raton Bowl against Georgia State in Boca Raton, Florida. The game is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 21. The Panthers are currently 0-1 on the season following their overtime loss, 34-31, to Louisiana on Sept. 19.
College Football News currently has the Flames pegged into the New Mexico Bowl against Louisiana Tech. This game is scheduled to be aired on ESPN at Dreamstyle Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Louisiana Tech is currently 2-0 on the season with a 31-30 win over Southern Miss and a 66-38 win over Houston Baptist. They face #22 BYU this Friday night on ESPN2.
