The Liberty Flames (5-1, 3-1 CUSA) are back in action against Jacksonville State (4-3, 3-0 CUSA). The Flames and Gamecocks are scheduled to meet at Williams Stadium on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 PM. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

If you were watching Jax State on Thursday night in Week 1 against Coastal Carolina, you saw them get absolutely destroyed by the Chanticleers, 55-27. You may have written off the Gamecocks from contending in CUSA at that point. Well, things have certainly turned.

Jax State opened the year at 0-3, following up that season opener with a 49-14 loss to Louisville and a double overtime loss at Eastern Michigan. Since then, the Gamecocks are rolling. They have won four straight, winning by an average score of 50.7-16, rolling against Southern Miss, Kennesaw State, New Mexico State, and Middle Tennessee. Granted, those teams are a combined 6-23 on the season.

Much of the change in success for the Gamecocks can be attributed to head coach Rich Rodriguez finding his quarterback. Tyler Huff has been on fire. In 7 games played, he has completed 99 of 152 passes for 1,406 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. He also has 654 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns on 94 rushing attempts.

The Gamecocks possess one of the top offensive attacks in the conference, averaging 39.7 points per game which ranks 14th nationally and the 5th best rushing attack in the country, averaging 256.3 rushing yards per game.

Jax State is a serious threat to win the CUSA championship and will be coming to Lynchburg looking to make that case to all watching.
