On Saturday, former Liberty defensive end Jessie Lemonier was promoted by the Los Angeles Chargers from the practice squad to the active roster.
Lemonier joins Washington’s Antonio Gandy-Golden as the two Liberty alumni on active rosters for Week 3 of the NFL season.
Lemonier went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he was quickly signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chargers. After a promising summer and training camp in LA, Lemonier was cut on the final day that NFL teams had to trim their rosters. He was then immediately added back to the Chargers’ practice squad.
As a senior in 2019, Lemonier recorded 80 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, and 10.5 sacks. With Melvin Ingram on IR, Lemonier will add depth at defensive end behind starters Uchenna Nwosu and Joey Bosa. The Chargers are at home today to face the Carolina Panthers at 4:05 Eastern on CBS.
