As we approach National Signing Day 2013, Liberty-commit JustinFritts is ready to join the Flames. Fritts, a wide receiver from Charlotte, NC, was drawn to Liberty by the support he was shown by the coaches, namely former special teams coordinator Mike Minter.
“The love I was shown from Mike Minter made me want to go check [Liberty] out. Once I stepped foot on the campus I fell in love with everything,” Fritts said.
Fritts stated that he made an instant connection with Liberty’s coaching staff. He knows offensive line coach Dennis Wagner personally and also met wide receiver coach Juan Taylor and head coach Turner Gill the day he committed.
The high school senior knows the bar is raised this season as Liberty seeks to move their football program to the FBS conference. Fritts hopes Liberty will join the Big East or the MAC.
“I take it as a challenge to us as the players to move up our level of competition. I think it will be a great move for the program,” Fritts said.
The day Fritts officially signs with Liberty will be a big relief and a crucial moment in his life and career, he said.
“It’s going to be a relief. I have been waiting for this moment to come my whole life. This is the next step to becoming one of the greatest, and that’s my goal,” Fritts said.
Fritts is thankful for the support of his recruiter, Minter, who was a crucial part of that next step, but Fritts was disappointed to hear of Minter’s recent decision to be Campbell’s head coach.
“Everything happens for a reason and I hope he does well as the head coach,” Fritts said.
Motivated to make an impact, Fritts plans to attend summer school in order to prepare himself before the season and get a head start on his physical and mental preparation going into the 2013 season.
Fritts did not strongly consider any other schools, but made visits to schools or their camps if they made an offer.
Fritts is a senior at Vance High School in Charlotte, NC and will major in Communications upon attending Liberty. He plans for a career as a sports analyst.
