On Saturday night, Liberty guard Kaden Metheny hit a three-pointer with 2 seconds remaining to break a 62-62 tie and lift the Flames to a win over the visiting Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
La Tech entered the night, like they have spent much of the first half of conference play, sitting alone in first place atop the CUSA standings. Liberty’s win knocked the Bulldogs back into a tie for first place with Sam Houston at 6-3. The Flames are now 5-5 in conference play and just 1.5 games out of first despite a slow start to conference play.
