The Liberty Lady Flames saw its seven-game win streak come to an end this past week, falling at Louisiana Tech on Thursday before bouncing back with a 20-point win at Sam Houston. Liberty is now 16-6 on the season and 9-2 in CUSA action.
Here’s a recap of the team’s recent action:
L, 67-66 @ Louisiana Tech, Feb. 6
Louisiana Tech freshman Paris Bradley scored 13 of her game high 19 points during the fourth quarter, including the game-winning driving layup with 2.7 seconds remaining. Her heroics helped the Lady Techsters pull out the come-from-behind win. That bucket came just a few seconds after Emma Hess hit a three-pointer from right in front of her team’s bench with 32.4 seconds left, giving Liberty the 66-65 edge. The Lady Flames entered the final quarter leading 54-44 but could not hold off the hard-charging home team as its seven-game winning streak was halted. Liberty shot just 4 of 15 from the field in the final quarter, being outscored 23-12, as Louisiana Tech won its eighth straight home game.
W, 74-54 @ Sam Houston, Feb. 8
Two days after seeing its seven-game win streak snapped, Liberty returned to form, leading from wire-to-wire in a 20-point road triumph at Sam Houston to complete a season sweep of the Bearkats. Pien Steenbergen (15) and Bella Smuda (14) reached double figures and combined for 6 of Liberty’s 10 blocked shots. The Lady Flames had 36 bench points and held Sam Houston to 31.6% from the field.
